- Review the graduate curricular proposal requirements. This is a completely separate process than obtaining approval for the undergraduate side, which runs through ACUE and the Faculty Senate for approval. You should begin approval for the graduate side before obtaining approval for the undergraduate side. Questions regarding the graduate proposal should be directed to D. Scott Bennett, Assoc Dean for Research & Graduate Studies.

- Present your idea of a new IUG program to the units and faculty that share your curriculum (at University Park and the Commonwealth campuses) or that might otherwise be affected by this change.
- (Assemble your consultation list in accordance with these Senate guidelines: http://senate.psu.edu/curriculum/guide-to-curricular-procedures/glossary/#consultation-statement).
- This is a preliminary, pre-proposal consultation, so you needn’t wait for responses from all affected parties.
- Retain all email correspondence.
- The college Curriculum Coordinator, Suzanna Linn, could be a useful resource at this stage.

Step 3: Complete the Liberal Arts P-1 Form
- Familiarize yourself with the University Faculty Senate Add Procedure.
- Review the Liberal Arts Undergraduate Studies (LAUS) submission deadlines and Administrative Council for Undergraduate Education (ACUE) meeting schedule in the sidebar.
- Complete the following Prospectus Request Management form (you may be prompted to log in using your PSU access ID (abc1234)).
- In the drop-down menu, select undergraduate for the academic level
- Wait for other parties to complete their reviews:
- ACUE sends the prospectus memo to LAUS, which will inform us how to proceed.
- LAUS office notifies the Department and the request initiator.
- Proceed to Step 2 only after final approval has been received from The Graduate School.

- Upon receipt of the approved ACUE prospectus memo, the proposer must complete the:
- Submit both forms and supporting documentation, including the graduate proposal approved by the Graduate School and consultation communication to Michelle Powers in the Office of the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies in 118 Sparks Bldg. You may email the proposal to mmf17@psu.edu.
- Note that IUG proposals are NOT submitted via cim.psu.edu, as all other requests are.

- Associate Dean reviews proposal (Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies, Mark Morrisson)
- Dean reviews proposal (Susan Welch Dean of the College of the Liberal Arts, Dean Clarence Lang)
- Faculty Senate reviews proposal.
- Faculty Senate will be in contact if there is an issue to be addressed or if approved.
